Jiri Prochazka challenged light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira to a fight without relying on "rituals" at UFC 303 in Las Vegas this Saturday, suggesting Pereira's spiritual practices contribute to his winning streak.
At a pre-fight press conference, Jiri Prochazka addressed comments he made on Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour, where he claimed Alex Pereira relies on "magic and shamans" for assistance.
The 31-year-old Czech fighter seeks revenge after Pereira, 36, defeated him last November in the second round.
"Everyone knows he performs these rituals before fights," Prochazka stated. "It's palpable, the atmosphere around him. I believe Alex can't compete without them. So, my challenge to him now is to fight without these influences."
Prochazka continued, "Let's compete purely on skill and performance, and let the best fighter prevail in the cage."
