As the transfer window enters its final week, Premier League clubs have spent £800m less than they did last summer.
Football Transfers data reveals that Premier League clubs spent a record £2.3bn on new signings in summer 2023, but have spent £1.5bn so far this window.
Overall spending for 2024 is at £1.6bn, significantly lower than the £3.1bn spent in 2023, though this gap may narrow before the Friday deadline.
Premier League clubs have completed 105 deals, matching La Liga but trailing Serie A (115) and Bundesliga (135), while surpassing Ligue 1 (78). Despite this, Premier League spending is still far ahead of Italy (£617m), France (£529m), Spain (£435m), and Germany (£462m).
The number of loan deals to Premier League clubs has dropped significantly, with only five compared to 26 last summer.
