The Premier League has informed its clubs that over £45 million was spent on legal fees last season due to multiple disputes regarding its financial regulations.
This staggering figure comes from documents shared with clubs ahead of a shareholders' meeting set for Thursday in central London.
The Premier League has found itself tangled in numerous investigations, disciplinary proceedings, and appeals involving several clubs, including Manchester City, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Leicester City.
Notably, an independent commission is currently hearing over 100 charges against Manchester City related to alleged financial rule violations, following a four-year investigation.
This hearing has entered its second week, with the champions firmly denying any wrongdoing. It is anticipated to last up to 10 weeks, keeping the league in the spotlight as it navigates these serious issues.
