Ollie Pope says that even though he is leading England in the three-Test series against Sri Lanka, the team remains Ben Stokes' squad.
Ben Stokes is missing the series after injuring his hamstring with the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
Ollie Pope, 26, will be England’s 82nd Test captain for the first Test at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday. Despite being sidelined, Stokes will stay with the squad throughout the series.
Pope told BBC Sport that Stokes will remain involved and that the team’s approach will stay the same.
Pope will be the fifth person to captain the England Test team since 2009.
