Phil Mickelson, a six-time major winner, admitted in February that he had made "reckless" remarks about Saudi Arabia's regime, for which he apologized and vowed to take a step back from the sport.
He said: "I have enjoyed my time on the PGA Tour and I have strong opinions about what can and should be done better, but I will try to keep those conversations behind closed doors.
"I don't want to give up [my lifetime membership to the PGA Tour], but I don't know what's going to happen."
