The two-time Stanley Cup winner and former Penguins player, Phil Kessel sets a new record by cruising past National Hockey League's 'ironman' record by playing his 990th consecutive game.
Phil Kessel edge past the record while lacing up his skates against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night.
With his 990th appearance he bacame the new 'iron man' of National Hockey League (NHL).
Kessel tied Keith Yandle for the previous record on Monday night but now sits alone at the top of the mountain.
As a member of the Penguins from 2015 to 2019, Kessel has made 328 appearances.
Not only he achieved the ‘ironman’ title as well as he has scored his 400th career goal during the match against the San Jose Sharks. With the feat he became the 12th American-born player to score 400 goals.
