Paris will name a sports venue in honor of Ugandan Olympic runner Rebecca Cheptegei, who tragically died after being allegedly set on fire by her ex-boyfriend, the city's mayor announced.
The 33-year-old mother passed away on Thursday from severe burns after her ex-partner allegedly poured petrol on her and set her on fire outside her home in north-western Kenya.
Kenyan police are treating Rebecca Cheptegei's death as murder and have launched an investigation.
Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo announced that a sports venue will be named in her honor, ensuring that "her memory and story will stay with us."
