Paris Swim Session Scrapped Again: Fifth Cancellation Due to Pollution.

On Tuesday, Paris 2024 organizers called off open water swimming training due to pollution in the River Seine.

For the fifth time, water quality issues have led to the cancellation of a swim familiarization session at the Paris 2024 Games. This latest setback follows a recent delay of the men’s race and comes just a day after the mixed team relay in triathlon.

Despite these challenges, the Seine continues to be a key venue for triathlon swims and is also slated for marathon swimming events.

Recent tests revealed that while enterococci bacteria levels in the Seine have fallen below the required standard, E. coli levels remain within acceptable limits.

A new familiarization session is set for Wednesday, ahead of the women's 10km race on Thursday and the men's race on Friday.

Anne Descamps from World Aquatics expressed optimism, stating, "We are confident that the events will proceed as planned, given the current weather trends."
