Paris Olympics: Vinesh Phogat stuns Yui Susaki, then qualifies for semis with a win over Oksana Livach.

Indian wrestling star Vinesh Phogat stunned four-time world champion and reigning Olympic gold medallist Yui Susaki of Japan with a points win, advancing to the quarter-finals of the 50kg category at the Olympics on Tuesday.

Vinesh Phogat's victory was even more impressive as it marked Yui Susaki's first-ever loss in her international career. This stunning upset highlights the magnitude of Phogat’s achievement.

Down 0-2 after giving up penalty points for passivity, Vinesh Phogat made a dramatic comeback in the final five seconds to secure a 3-2 victory over the top seed with a decisive three-point move.

Phogat had a challenging year away from wrestling due to leading a protest against former Wrestling Federation of India head Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan, who was accused of sexual misconduct.

This is her first major breakthrough after failing to medal in her previous two Olympic appearances.
