Pakistan will face Iran for the fifth place fight in the 2022 AVC Cup for Men.

Pakistan had a superb victory over Australia in their classification round for 5th-8th places in the 2022 AVC Cup for Men at the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Gymnasium.

They knocked out the Aussies by straight five sets 21-25, 25-16, 17-25,25-23, 15-6 in the classification round. Fahad Raza and Mazhar Ali scored a match-high 25 points for Pakistan.

Earlier, Iran clinched victory over the hosts, Thailand in their classification round for 5th-8th places in the 2022 AVC Cup for Men at the same venue.

They secured a dramatic win over Thailand by 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22). Poriya Hooseinkhanzadeh Firouzjah scored a match-high 21 points including 18 attacks and 2 stuff blocks for Iran and sealed their win over the hosts.

With the winnings by Iran and Pakistan, they will face each other for the fifth place fight and Australia will take on hosts Thailand in the 7th-8th place playoff in the 2022 AVC Cup for Men.
