The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to establish a two-member independent committee to serve as a link between the national team players, management, and the board.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, after a full-day cricket conference on Monday with the board’s leadership and foreign coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, assured players that a committee to address their concerns would be established soon.
Sources revealed that players expressed difficulties in communicating with top PCB officials, particularly in the international and domestic cricket sectors.
Captains Shan Masood and Babar Azam, along with Muhammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and other players, emphasized the need for a "bridge" with the board to prevent misunderstandings and effectively convey their issues.
It was agreed that the two-member committee would operate independently to enhance communication between players, management, and various PCB departments.
Notably, Pakistan is one of the few Test-playing nations without a players' association recognized by the board.
The players expressed the need for a sense of security while representing Pakistan and requested clarity from selectors and the board on various matters, including captaincy.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi assured them that there would be no immediate changes to the national team captaincy, encouraging players to concentrate on their performances.
Naqvi also urged the team to foster a more cohesive and united atmosphere in the dressing room. He emphasized that regardless of the format, players must support the appointed captains and play as one.
Afterward, PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer and the two foreign coaches described the cricket connect session as productive and transparent.
Naseer remarked, "It gave us a platform to identify and resolve issues." He added, "The session was about openly acknowledging challenges and making commitments to improve our performances and teamwork. We all agreed on the need to address these matters moving forward."
