Paarl Royals has appointed Shane Bond as their new head coach for the upcoming SA20 competition.

Paarl Royals is delighted to announce the appointment of former New Zealand fast bowler, Shane Bond as their new head coach for the upcoming SA20 competition.

The legendary former New Zealand fast bowler will bring his wealth of experience and cricketing insight to lead the franchise in the highly anticipated SA20 season.

Shane Bond steps into the shoes of the outgoing JP Duminy, who has transitioned to the role of Batting Coach for the South Africa Men’s Team.

Known for his strategic brilliance and the ability to foster emerging talent, Bond’s coaching prowess has been widely acknowledged within the cricketing fraternity.

Bond has been taking up coaching roles across different T20 leagues. Most recently he was the head coach of the MI Emirates in the ILT20.

He was previously the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians in the IPL between 2015 and 2020.

Bond left both roles in the ILT20 and the IPL to join hands with the Royals Sports Group last month, and in October 2023 was revealed as the new assistant coach and fast-bowling coach of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

The Rajasthan franchise also owns the Barbados Royals in the CPL apart from its SA20 franchise.

Regarding his appointment, Bond expressed his excitement and reckoned that the squad of Paarl Royals has huge potential. Bond said he will do everything to make sure they reach their target of lifting the trophy.

“It is a new challenge for me personally to be heading to the SA20, but what gives me the belief is the strong squad we have been able to assemble for the upcoming season. We have so much experience and immense potential in our ranks, which makes me excited to join the group in January and work towards achieving our target of lifting the trophy,” said Bond.
