Osaka Survives Rollercoaster Match, Escapes Early Exit.

Naomi Osaka, a four-time major winner, described her victory over Lucia Bronzetti in the first round of the French Open as a "rollercoaster."

Japan's Naomi Osaka secured her first victory at Roland Garros in three years with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 win over Lucia Bronzetti.

The match was a rollercoaster ride, as Osaka initially led 4-0 in the third set before facing a late challenge from Bronzetti.

This win was especially significant for Osaka, who is playing in just her second major since returning from maternity leave in January.

Reflecting on her mindset during the match, Osaka admitted, "It really was like a rollercoaster. I was in my head, thinking I didn't win a match in Australia, so I'd really love to win one here. Obviously, that wasn't a good train of thought."

Osaka's victory sets up a probable second-round encounter with defending champion and top seed Iga Swiatek.

Osaka expressed admiration for Swiatek, mentioning that she watched her play a lot during her pregnancy. She sees the match as a test of her current form but maintains that she doesn't have low expectations for herself.
