Oliver Morgan achieved an impressive feat by setting a new British record in the 100m backstroke event, earning himself a spot at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Oliver Morgan, aged 20, emerged as a surprise contender after winning three titles at the British Championships last year.
He continued his success by defending his 100m backstroke title, setting a new British record with a time of 52.70 seconds, surpassing Liam Tancock's record from 2009.
Morgan expressed his disbelief at his rapid progress, stating that he wouldn't have believed he'd reach this level just two years ago.
At the same event, 14-year-old Amelie Blocksidge defended her 1500m freestyle title but fell short of the Olympic qualification time with a time of 16 minutes 13.39.
However, Scotland's Kathleen Dawson, a gold medallist in relay at the Tokyo Games, secured her spot for Paris by winning the 100m backstroke after overcoming three years of injuries.
Additionally, Alice Tai performed impressively in the 100m Para-backstroke event, positioning herself well for qualification for the Paralympics.
