Northampton Saints Rugby Club announced a record £21.96m turnover.

Releasing their financial figures, Northampton Saints have recorded a loss of £1.1 million before tax, despite a record annual turnover of £21.96 million for the year ended 30 June 2023. 

This will give those with a vested interest in the Midlands club a sense of unease deep in their stomachs after the recent collapse of Worcester Warriors, Wasps, London Irish, and Jersey Reds.

Northampton Saints chairman, John White, had the following to say about the situation: “The 2022-23 financial year presented a new set of challenges for Northampton Saints – and the Premiership as a whole"

Despite the pre-tax loss, White wanted to highlight the reasons for the change and the actions taken: “Thanks to the strong commercial performance, as well as the agility in delivering these additional games, the club increased our turnover to £21.96m in 2022-23, surpassing our highest ever turnover of £20.8m, which was achieved in 2022-23 was reported last year,” said White.

“The accounts show a pre-tax loss of £1.1m, compared to a profit of £0.3m the previous year – after adjusting for one-off items which drove up the 2021-22 figure, it showed However, our underlying trading loss was a loss of £0.2m, an improvement on the previous year.”
