Nooh Dastagir Butt clinch Pakistan's first gold medal in weightlifting event at CWG 2022.

Weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt won Pakistan's first gold medal in the men's 109+kg weightlifting category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 and creates a new games record.

The 24-year-old, Nooh Dastagir Butt lifted a new games record total of 405kg (173kg snatch and 232kg clean and jerk) to win the first gold for his nation.

Previously, Pakistan's Shujauddin Malik won a weightlifting gold in the 85kg category back in 2006. Now, Nooh Dastagir Butt became the second Pakistani to win a weightlifting gold in the CWG.

New Zealand's David Andrew won silver with a total lift of 394 kg while India's Gurdeep Singh won bronze with a lift of 390kg.
