Noah Lyles Clinches Thrilling 100m Gold by a Razor-Thin 0.005 Seconds.

US sprint star Noah Lyles claimed the Olympic 100m title in a dramatic photo finish, beating Jamaica's Kishane Thompson by just 0.005 seconds at Paris 2024.

Showman Noah Lyles surged past his rivals in the second half of the race, winning by the slimmest margin with a personal best of 9.79 seconds. This matched the time of Olympic debutant Kishane Thompson, who had led most of the race. Lyles' spectacular finish marked the start of his quest for four golds at these Games.

Former world champion Fred Kerley of the United States secured bronze in 9.81, narrowly beating South Africa's Akani Simbine.

The race, held in a frenzied atmosphere at Stade de France, saw all eight finalists finish within 0.12 seconds of Lyles.

The high standards of the final meant Italy's reigning champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs missed out on a medal, and Jamaica's rising star Oblique Seville finished last in 9.91 seconds.

GB's Zharnel Hughes and Louie Hinchliffe did not make it to the final.
