NFL legend, Franco Harris passed away at the age of 72.

The NFL legend, Franco Harris passed away aged 72 on December 21, 2022. He passed away just two days before the "Immaculate Reception" anniversary made it that bit more upsetting.

Pittsburgh Steelers great Franco Harris was best known for one of the most iconic plays in NFL history, that became known as the  "Immaculate Reception" in 1972.

Harris died two days before the 50th anniversary of the "Immaculate Reception," a game-winning touchdown catch which led the Steelers to victory over the then Oakland Raiders 13-7 for Pittsburgh's first-ever playoff game in the 1972 AFC Divisional Round.

In his career, Harris was a four-time Super Bowl champion, winning MVP honors in Super Bowl IX after rushing for 158 yards in the game against the Minnesota Vikings to help the Steelers capture their first-ever league title.

Harris was a National Football League (NFL) Hall of Famer, a four-time Super Bowl champion, the 1972 NFL Rookie of the Year, and at one time was the league's number-two all-time rusher, racking up more than 12,000 yards over a 13-year career, all but one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
