Newcastle CEO Eales Steps Down: A Heartfelt Farewell After Health News.

Newcastle United's CEO, Darren Eales, will resign after being diagnosed with a serious type of blood cancer, as confirmed by the club.

Darren Eales, 52, joined Newcastle United in August 2022 and will remain as CEO until a replacement is found.

Eales expressed his pride in leading the club, stating, 'Being CEO of Newcastle United is an incredible honor, and I'm proud to be part of its exciting journey. However, I realize it's time to focus on my health and family.'

He took the role shortly after Newcastle's £305 million takeover backed by Saudi Arabia.

Since then, the club has celebrated significant achievements, including reaching its first domestic cup final in 24 years during the 2022-23 Carabao Cup and securing a spot in the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League last season.

In July, Newcastle appointed Paul Mitchell as their new sporting director, following the exits of Dan Ashworth to Manchester United and co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi.
