New Zealand have comfortably secured their third win in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 after claiming an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh.
Batting first, Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah provided his team with some crucial runs in the end as New Zealand pacers restricted Bangladesh to 245/9 after 50 overs.
The wicketkeeper-batter, Mushfiqur smacked 66 runs off 75 balls, packed with six fours and two sixes while Shakib Al Hasan slammed 40 off 51 balls, including three fours and two sixes.
Mahmudullah gave his side a strong finish, playing an unbeaten knock of 41 off 49 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes in the process.
For the Kiwis, Lockie Ferguson clinched 3 wickets, Trent Boult and Matt Henry got two wickets each while Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner have one wicket to their name.
In reply, New Zealand chased down the target within 42.5 overs with skipper Kane Williamson and Daryll Mitchell hitting impressive fifties.
Skipper and star batter, Kane Williamson returned to action in the World Cup with a score of 78 runs to give New Zealand their third win in three games.
Williamson had been out of action after he picked up a knee injury when playing for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League.
The skipper put on a second-wicket stand of 80 with opener Devon Conway (45) and then 108 with Daryl Mitchell who raced to his 50 off 43 balls.
Mitchell finished undefeated on 89 off just 67 deliveries, with six fours and four sixes under his belt.
