New Zealand starts with win against Lebanon team in their Rugby League World Cup campaign.

New Zealand (Kiwis) have made winning start to their World Cup campaign, with a hardfought 34-12 victory over Lebanon at Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington.

The Kiwis, ranked number one in the world, soon level when Kenneth Bromwich went over, before substitute Nelson Asofa-Solomona got his side ahead despite some excellent defensive work from Lebanon, with Peta Hiku adding another shortly after to give New Zealand an 18-6 lead at the break.

It was another NRL player who got the game off to a remarkable start for Lebanon, with the Cedars retaining the ball from the kickoff and inside a minute Josh Mansour scoring.

But in the fifth minute Kenny Bromwich got the Kiwis on the board, stretching out for a try after the middle forwards marched up the field, with Lebanon unable to slow them.

As the half progressed, the Kiwis' props continued to dominate.
