The NBA, Basketball Federation of India (BFI), and ACG have launched the ACG Jr. NBA program in India.
The nationwide 3v3 tournament for under-14 players will be the largest school-based basketball initiative in India.
Boys' and girls' teams will represent schools in a nationwide competition starting on September 24 in Chennai and Mumbai.
The tournament will then move to Aizawl, Delhi, Kolkata, and Ludhiana. The top eight teams from each city will compete in a league phase, with the top three teams in each division, plus one all-star team, advancing to the league finals early next year.
BFI President Aadhav Arjuna highlighted their partnership with the NBA as a key step in advancing basketball in India.
“Our collaboration emphasizes our commitment to developing talent and raising the sport’s profile nationwide. The NBA's grassroots initiatives have been outstanding, and we're eager to inspire and empower future generations of basketball players,” he said.
Arjuna also noted that the ACG Jr. NBA program will boost students’ skills and enthusiasm while making the game engaging for more children. It will also help identify and develop top talent, creating a sustainable pipeline of elite Indian players.
This partnership aims to strengthen local youth basketball and expand elite player identification nationwide.
Since 2013, the Jr. NBA program has reached over 14 million young players and 15,000 physical education teachers across 35 cities in India.
