Mirabai Chanu, Lakshya Sen, Manu Bhaker, and More: India's Fourth-Place Finishes at Paris 2024.

India's streak of near misses continued at the Paris Olympics as weightlifter Mirabai Chanu finished fourth in her event, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.

Chanu’s close call marks the sixth instance at the Paris Games where an Indian athlete or team has finished fourth, just missing out on a podium position.

Here’s a look at the Indian athletes and teams who came up just short and settled for fourth place.

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu narrowly missed out on a second Olympic medal, finishing fourth in the women's 49kg event. Despite lifting a total of 199kg (88kg snatch + 111kg clean and jerk) at the South Paris Arena, she fell short of the 202kg she achieved in Tokyo, where she won silver.

Chanu managed only three successful lifts out of six attempts, including just one in the clean and jerk section. Her final attempt at 114kg in the clean and jerk failed, costing her a podium finish as she fell just short of her medal dream.
