Michael Edwards Poised for Exciting Role with Liverpool Owners FSG.

Former Liverpool sporting director, Michael Edwards, is gearing up for a comeback with the club's owners, Fenway Sports Group.

His precise role remains undisclosed, but reports indicate that he'll take charge of football operations for the Reds.

One of his initial tasks is expected to be the appointment of a new sporting director at Anfield.

Previously, Edwards declined an offer from FSG to rejoin after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced his departure at the end of the season.

Since Jorg Schmadtke's departure in January, Liverpool has been without a sporting director, with Richard Hughes, Bournemouth's technical director, being linked to the role as he exits his current position at the end of the season.

Edwards originally joined Liverpool in 2011 under FSG and assumed the role of sporting director in 2016 before leaving in the summer of 2022.

FSG holds deep respect and admiration for Edwards, persisting in efforts to bring him back even after his initial refusal.
