Great Britain’s challenges persisted in the women’s Olympic golf event as Morgane Metraux took a one-shot lead after the second round at Le Golf National.
Georgia Hall is the highest-placed Brit at tied 36th, sitting four-over par after a two-over 74 in the second round. Charley Hull improved to a one-under 71 but remains tied for 52nd, eight-over par, and out of medal contention due to a tough first round.
With no cut in the tournament, both will continue into the weekend as Switzerland's Morgane Metraux aims to hold her lead. The 27-year-old from Lausanne surged ahead with a six-under 66, including a standout front-nine of 28, to reach eight under for the tournament.
China's Yin Ruoning trails by just one stroke after a bogey-free 65, while overnight leader Celine Boutier fell to joint sixth with a four-over 76.
