McLaren will focus on supporting Lando Norris over teammate Oscar Piastri in their quest to win both Formula 1 world championships this year.
Team principal Andrea Stella emphasized that any support given to Lando Norris in the drivers' title race will adhere to McLaren's principles of fairness and sportsmanship.
Stella told BBC Sport, "We are determined to win, but we want to do it the right way."
As Norris heads into the Azerbaijan Grand Prix 62 points behind Max Verstappen with a maximum of 232 points still available, Piastri is fourth, 106 points behind. Stella said, "We will focus our support on Lando but will maintain our principles, putting the team's interest first and ensuring fairness to both drivers."
McLaren has previously allowed Norris and Piastri to compete freely without team interference.
