McIlroy Plans to Scale Down Future Tournament Appearances.

Rory McIlroy plans to reduce his tournament schedule in the future after a busy 2024, during which he will have played in 27 events.

Rory McIlroy, 35, reflected on his season after finishing tied for ninth at The Tour Championship in Atlanta with a final round of 66. He started the year strong, winning the Dubai Desert Classic and later the Wells Fargo Championship in May.

Despite coming in second at the US Open in June after a late stumble, McIlroy missed the cut at the Open Championship in July. He also represented Team Ireland at the Paris Olympics, finishing joint fifth.

"It’s been a long season," McIlroy said. "I’ll need to plan more breaks next year, especially after feeling worn out post-US Open."
