McClaren Takes the Helm as Jamaica's New Manager After Manchester United Departure.

Former England manager Steve McClaren has been appointed head coach of Jamaica's men's national team, marking a new chapter in his coaching career.

McClaren, known for his extensive experience in European football, will bring his expertise to the Jamaican squad as they aim to make their mark on the international stage.

Steve McClaren, 63, has signed a two-year contract to become Jamaica's head coach, starting after his time with Manchester United’s staff. His goal is to lead the Reggae Boyz to the 2026 World Cup finals, their first appearance since 1998.

McClaren, who expressed pride and excitement about his new role, hasn’t managed a team since being dismissed by QPR in April 2019.

He previously served as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant at Manchester United, led Middlesbrough to a League Cup win in 2004, and was England’s manager from 2006 until he was let go after missing Euro 2008 qualification.

Returning to Manchester United in May 2022, McClaren joined Erik ten Hag’s team before accepting the Jamaica position.
