Former Russian national football team captain Igor Denisov has criticized his nation's war against Ukraine, commenting on this critical topic may danger his life.
Igor Denisov had played more than 300 games for Zenit St Petersburg before ending his playing career with Lokomotiv Moscow in 2019. He had secured 54 caps in his career between 2008 2016.
While in an interview session Denisov stated that the step taken by Russian Government against Ukraine is 'miserable' and 'disaster'.
The remarks or else the statement given by the mid-fielder against Russian Government may lead him to the jail for a tenure of 15 years under newly passed legislation that bans citizens raising statements against the conflict.
The 38-year-old, who was outspoken throughout his playing career, says he wants to speak the truth about the "complete horror" inflicted in Ukraine.
