Maxwell's Potential Revival: Can the T20 World Cup Spark Inspiration?

Glenn Maxwell's challenging IPL season concluded with a disappointing performance, marked by his fourth duck for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Maxwell ended IPL 2024 with just 52 runs across nine innings, averaging 5.77.

Among players with at least nine innings in a season, only Sunil Narine (2023) and Daniel Sams (2022) have had lower averages, mainly due to batting in the lower order.

Former Australia captain Aaron Finch commented on ESPN's Around The Wicket, describing Maxwell's struggles in IPL 2024. Finch noted that Maxwell's bowling stood out, but his batting performance was poor, reflecting a challenging campaign.

Maxwell's season took a downturn, leading him to step away from the team with discussions with captain Faf du Plessis and coach Andy Flower, possibly avoiding a potential drop from the XI.

If not for Will Jacks' recall for England duty, Maxwell might have found it difficult to secure a place in the team as Royal Challengers Bangalore made a strong push towards the playoffs.

Every player experiences ups and downs in form, and while Maxwell's recent slump has been significant, it's not the end of the road. With the T20 World Cup approaching, his role in Australia's squad becomes crucial, especially after their 2021 triumph.
