The Northern Irishman, Mark Allen stormed into the World Snooker Championship semi-finals for the first time since 2009 after capitalizing over Jak Jones by 13-10 in a hard-fought quarter-final at the Crucible.
Mark Allen is now just two wins away from becoming world champion for the first time, a victory that would cap a remarkable season that has already seen him claim the Northern Ireland Open, UK Championship, and World Grand Prix titles.
Allen was far from his fluent best and made just one break over 70, but took advantage of a nervy display in the final session from debutant Jones to secure a 13-10 victory
With the contest finely poised at 8-8, Jones won the opening frame on Wednesday with a break of 77 before contributions of 66 and 64 from Allen edged him back in front as Jones missed a number of simple pots.
