Graeme McDowell has been suspended by LIV Golf for one tournament due to a violation of their anti-doping policy.
The Saudi-funded LIV Golf series announced that Graeme McDowell has been suspended for one tournament after using a decongestant containing a banned substance.
The 45-year-old Northern Irishman’s violation occurred during LIV Golf Nashville in June, leading to a $125,000 fine.
McDowell, the 2010 US Open champion, explained that he took the over-the-counter decongestant to manage severe congestion affecting his sleep, unaware it was on the banned list. He expressed regret for not seeking a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) and fully accepts the sanctions.
As a result, McDowell and his team’s results from LIV Nashville have been disqualified. He will miss the next event in West Virginia on August 16 but can return for the Chicago tournament in September.
