Latham Takes Over as New Zealand's New Test Captain, Succeeding Southee.

Tom Latham has been named the new Test captain of New Zealand, taking over from Tim Southee, who stepped down after serving in the position for 22 months.

Southee led the Black Caps' Test team in 14 matches after taking over from Kane Williamson in December 2022. However, the 35-year-old stepped down "in the best interests of the team" following a 2-0 series defeat to Sri Lanka.

Tom Latham, who has previously captained New Zealand in nine Tests, will take on the role full-time. His first assignment will be a three-match series against India in October and November.
