Heather Knight, captain of the England women's cricket team, has acknowledged a past social media post from 2012, where she appeared in blackface.
In 2012, at age 21, Heather Knight attended a cricket club's fancy dress party in Kent, where she appeared in blackface in a photo posted by someone else on Facebook.
The Cricket Discipline Commission has reprimanded her and issued a £1,000 fine, suspended for two years.
"I'm truly sorry for my mistake in 2012," Knight, now 33, said in a statement through the ECB. "It was wrong, and I've regretted it ever since. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the impact of my actions. There was no harmful intent."
