Kenya's Chebet Claims 5,000m Gold as Kipyegon Takes Silver.

Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet won Olympic gold in the women’s 5,000 meters at Paris 2024, powering to victory in a dramatic race. Faith Kipyegon, initially disqualified, was later reinstated and earned silver.

The 24-year-old Beatrice Chebet won the women’s 5,000 meters in 14:28.56, outpacing her Kenyan teammate Faith Kipyegon. 

Initially, Kipyegon was disqualified for obstruction in a clash with Gudaf Tsegay, but after a successful appeal by Kenya, she was reinstated and earned silver.

Kenya also secured a bronze medal on Monday as Mary Moraa finished third in the women’s 800m final. 

Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma took silver behind Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson.
