Jos Buttler has withdrawn from Lancashire's T20 Blast quarter-final due to a setback in his calf injury recovery. This puts his availability for England's T20I series against Australia in doubt.
England is hopeful that Jos Buttler will be fit to captain the team for their T20I series against Australia starting September 11, despite his withdrawal from Lancashire’s T20 Blast quarter-final due to a calf injury.
England’s new squad will report to the Utilita Bowl on Sunday for training, where medical staff will assess Buttler's availability.
In Buttler’s absence, Sam Curran and Phil Salt are the top candidates to step in. Although Buttler is unlikely to keep wicket during the T20I series, his chances of playing remain good.
He hasn’t played since England’s T20 World Cup semi-final loss to India in June and missed the Hundred due to the injury. He had hoped to return in Wednesday’s quarter-final at Hove.
