Joey Barton Refutes Claims of Malicious Posts About Pundit.

Joey Barton, the former footballer, has strongly denied accusations of sending harmful social media messages aimed at pundit Eni Aluko.

Joey Barton, 41, appeared in Warrington Magistrates' Court, facing charges of sending offensive messages about former women's footballer Eni Aluko between January 3 and 8.

The ex-Manchester City, Burnley, and Rangers midfielder confirmed his details to Judge Tan Ikram and pleaded not guilty.

Barton is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on August 27.

Judge Ikram granted Joey Barton conditional bail, with the stipulation that he must not mention Eni Aluko on social media, either directly or indirectly, to prevent further offenses.

Barton, who nodded in acknowledgment, left the courtroom with his defense solicitor Richard Derby.

Eni Aluko, a former Chelsea and England player, scored 33 goals in 102 international appearances before retiring in 2020 and starting a broadcasting career.

Barton, whose football career spanned from Manchester City in 2002 to Burnley in 2017, also played for Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers, and Marseille, and made one appearance for England.

Originally from Huyton, Merseyside, he managed Fleetwood Town in 2018 and Bristol Rovers from 2021.
