Japan claimed the 2022 AVC Cup for Women title for the first time after a four-game victory over China at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines.

Previously, China beat Japan in straight sets to win the previous edition in 2018.

In the 2022 edition, Japan sealed victory, and a first win in this competition by defeating the five-times champion, China by 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 25-16) sets.

Japan Women ended China's reign and avenged their loss in the 2018 edition of the event in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Mizuki Tanaka led the Japanese with 19 points while substitute Miwako Osanai added 15 points to seal their first title of AVC Cup for Women.
