Jak Jones edged past Barry Hawkins in the final qualifying round of the World Snooker Championship.

Jak Jones has scripted a sensational win against Barry Hawkins in the final qualifying round for the World Snooker Championship.

Barry Hawkins was the biggest name casualty on the penultimate night of World Championship qualifying but unfortunately suffered a shocking 10-8 defeat against Jak Jones, who booked his Crucible debut.

Hawkins has not missed a trip to The Crucible since 2005, reaching the final once and four semi-finals since then, but his World Championship hopes for this year are at an end.

Welshman Jones made two centuries and four half-centuries in an impressive win, which saw Hawkins punch the table at one stage, in a very rare fit of rage for the Hawk.

On the other hand, Graeme Dott, the 2006 champion, suffered a 10-6 reverse against Matthew Selt, who is through to the Crucible for the fourth time and will be looking for his first win at the venue.
