Ivory Coast and Nigeria Rise in Global Standings Following AFCON 2023 Success.

Following their victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast has made a significant leap in the FIFA world rankings, climbing an impressive 10 places. 

Meanwhile, Nigeria, the runners-up of the tournament, have also experienced a remarkable ascent, moving up by 14 spots.

Despite their loss in the final with a score of 2-1 on Sunday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed to the 28th position in the FIFA rankings, solidifying their position as the third-highest ranked team in Africa.

On the other hand, Ivory Coast has risen to the 39th position globally after securing their third Nations Cup title on their home turf.

Angola emerges as a significant success story from the finals, soaring an impressive 24 places to 93rd in the rankings, following their commendable performance reaching the quarter-finals in West Africa.

Following their group-stage exits at the tournament, both Tunisia and Algeria have experienced a decline in the rankings, dropping 13 spots each. Tunisia now sits at 41st place, while Algeria is at 43rd.

Despite being eliminated in the last 16, Morocco maintains its position as Africa's highest-ranked team, climbing up one spot to 12th. Senegal, who also exited at the last 16 stage against the hosts, occupies the 17th spot.

The top 10 positions in the FIFA rankings remain unchanged, with Argentina, the winners of the 2022 World Cup, retaining the top spot, followed by France and England.
