Team Italy showcased a commanding performance and secured the top spot in Pool A at the Rugby World Cup after claiming a sensational 38-17 bonus-point win over Uruguay in Nice.
Italy scored four tries in a second-half fightback and smashed Uruguay’s hopes of a shock victory in a pulsating Pool A encounter.
Wing Lorenzo Pani gave Italy an early lead, but after second-row, Niccolo Cannone was yellow carded, Uruguay levelled from a penalty try that saw prop Danilo Fischetti join his team-mate in the sin-bin.
The South Americans built a 17-7 lead when Italy were down to 13 men late in the first half.
But once the Italians struck straight after the interval a comeback triumph always looked likely.
Juan Ignacio Brex notched Italy's fifth and final try at the fourth of the second half in their bonus-point success.
