Ipswich's Premier League Comeback a Triumph Over 'Dark Times,' Says Burns.

Wes Burns feels Ipswich Town’s return to the Premier League is a well-deserved reward for fans who supported the club through its toughest periods.

Ipswich Town will play their first Premier League match since 2002 against Liverpool at Portman Road on Saturday.

Winger Wes Burns, who joined the club in 2021 from Fleetwood Town, said he never imagined Ipswich would be back in the Premier League so soon. He praised the fans for their unwavering support during difficult times, noting that they truly deserve this moment.

Since their Premier League relegation in 2002, Ipswich faced significant struggles, including administration and a drop to League One by the end of the 2018-19 season.

Burns, 29, has been crucial in Ipswich's two recent promotions under head coach Kieran McKenna, who started with the club in December 2021.
