India's 4x400m Mixed Relay Team Clinches Gold at Asian Relay Championships but Misses Paris Olympics Qualification.

India's mixed 4x400 relay team secured gold in the new Asian Relay Championships in Bangkok on Monday. However, they did not qualify for the Paris Olympics.

Muhammed Ajmal, Jyothika Sri Dandi, Amoj Jacob, and Subha Venkatesan formed the team that finished the race in 3 minutes and 14.12 seconds, securing a new national record.

The previous record of 3:14.34 was set by the Indian team while winning a silver medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year.

India maintained the lead in all four legs of the relay race. Sri Lanka came in second with a time of 3:17.00, and Vietnam secured third place with 3:18.45.

The timing achieved on Monday will move India up to 21st place, previously at 23rd, on the Road to Paris list of World Athletics. The goal was to reach either 15th or 16th place.

However, India is now in a challenging position to qualify for the Olympics as only sixteen teams will compete in the mixed 4x400m relay event in Paris.
