Indian boxers, experienced Amit Panghal and Mohammed Hussamuddin advanced into the quarterfinals of the men's boxing event in Birmingham.
Amit Panghal registered his comfortable win by defeating Vanuatu's Berry Namri in his first bout of the fly weather category (48-51kg). The CWG silver medalist, Amit will now face Scotland's Lennon Mulligan in the last eight.
The 28-year-old Hussamuddin, on the other hand, defeated Bangladesh's Salim Hossain in the pre-quarterfinal match of featherweight category (54-57kg). Now Hussamuddin will now play his quarter-final bout against Namibia's Tryagain Ndevelo.
Later, light heavyweight boxer Ashish Kumar (80kg) produced a dominating show to clinch victory over Travis Tapatuetoa of Niue and comfortably sailed into the quarter-finals.
