Just a day after surprising the world No.3 Australia, the India women's hockey team showcased their thrilling and fast-paced style once more, securing a 2-1 shootout victory against the United States in an exciting FIH Pro League match.
The match ended in a 1-1 tie after regular play, with India's Deepika Kumari scoring in the 19th minute and the US equalizing through Ashley Seesa in the 45th minute.
In the shootout, Mumtaz Khan and Sonika found the mark for India, while Leah Crouse scored for the US team.
Despite the victory, Indian chief coach Janneke Schopman might be disappointed as the Savita Punia-led team dominated much of the game but couldn't clinch the win within regular time, despite earning numerous penalty corners.
