India outclassed New Zealand in a stunning fashion in the ongoing Cricket World Cup.

Virat Kohli's 95 and Mohammed Shami's five-wicket haul guided India to outclass New Zealand by an emphatic four-wicket in a match between the only two unbeaten teams at the Cricket World Cup in Dharmsala.

With the stunning hard-fought victory, India continued with their winning streak as well as clinched the top spot in the points table.

Put into bat first, New Zealand had a slow start as Devon Conway departed without troubling the scorers while Will Young was castled by a returning Mohammed Shami.

From 19/2 inside the first 10 overs, New Zealand did well to reach 178/3 as Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell joined forces to take the attack back to the Indians.

Later, Mitchell smashed a rapid hundred before New Zealand were all out for 273 in a clash of previously unbeaten sides.

Mitchell forged a 159-run partnership with Rachin Ravindra (75) and New Zealand, sitting pretty at 205-3 in the 37th over, looked poised for a 300-plus total before Indian bowlers applied the brake.

Mohammed Shami led that effort, claiming 5-54 in his first match of the tournament.

In reply, India chased down the challenging target with 12 balls left, finishing on 274-6, with Virat Kohli (95) once again anchoring a tricky chase which seemingly helped avenge the agonising loss suffered in the semifinal match on the same stage, four years ago.

Skipper Rohit Sharma (46) led India's rollicking start but it was Kohli's fourth 50-plus score in five innings that helped to inflict on New Zealand their first defeat of the tournament.
