‘I Questioned If I’d Ever Walk Normally Again’.

Scotland's Lisa Aitken faced uncertainty about her future after suffering a serious knee injury that threatened her career. She questioned whether she would ever walk normally again during her recovery journey.

The 34-year-old Lisa Aitken has undergone three surgeries after completely rupturing her anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments and tearing her meniscus during a match in late 2022.

Nearly two years later, Aitken, a competitor in three Commonwealth Games, is set to make her comeback at the Qatar Classic next week at the Khalifa International Squash Complex in Doha.

"After needing two follow-up surgeries, I wondered if I’d ever walk normally again. There was a long time when I was limping," she shared with BBC Sport Scotland.
