John Higgins made history by becoming the second player ever to reach 1,000 centuries, even as he faced a close 4-3 defeat to Mark Allen in the last 16 of the English Open.
Ronnie O'Sullivan reached the 1,000-century milestone in 2019, while Higgins had 745 centuries at that time.
In the match, Higgins scored 108 and 109 to tie the game at 3-3, but Mark Allen clinched a long, tense final frame in Brentwood.
Higgins, a four-time world champion, has recorded 13 maximum 147 breaks in his career, trailing only O'Sullivan.
His first century was in the 1992-93 season, and his most successful year was 2021-22, when he achieved 58 centuries.
