Heartbreak for Dart in Tough US Open Loss.

Harriet Dart faced a tough loss to 19th seed Marta Kostyuk from Ukraine in the US Open second round, enduring a painful defeat in the sweltering heat of Flushing Meadows.

British number three Harriet Dart aimed to reach the third round of the US Open for the first time but faltered in a 7-6 (12-10) 6-1 loss to 19th seed Marta Kostyuk.

Dart struggled with errors, including 10 double faults, as a promising start quickly unraveled in the intense heat.

She led by a break three times in the first set and missed five set points in the tie-break.

Kostyuk capitalized on her third chance to take the lead, and Dart, struggling with confidence, couldn't recover in the second set, where she was broken three times.

Despite the tough loss, Dart will achieve a career-high ranking in the top 70 after a strong season.
