Travis Head smashed an impressive 154* to lead Australia to a commanding seven-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Trent Bridge.
England collapsed from 213-2 to 315 all out, setting the stage for Travis Head’s brilliant 154*. His partnership of 148 with Marnus Labuschagne saw Australia chase down the target with 36 balls to spare.
Head’s innings set a new record for the highest ODI score by an Australian in England and helped the visitors achieve their highest successful ODI chase in the country.
This dominant win marked Australia's 13th consecutive ODI victory, giving them a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
England looked strong early on, with Ben Duckett scoring 95 and Will Jacks hitting a half-century. But after Duckett was caught and bowled by part-time spinner Labuschagne, England’s innings fell apart.
Labuschagne and Adam Zampa, in his 100th ODI, took three wickets each, with Australia bowling spin for the last 18 overs.
Jacob Bethell added a useful 35, pushing England past 300, but it wasn't enough on a high-scoring ground like Trent Bridge.
